This is certainly a problem in our current age, isn't it. Standards of modesty have declined enormously, and indeed the standard of dress has. A person can in fact hardly even comment on it without being accused of being sexist in some fashion.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, the pornification of the culture had resulted in bizarre physical expectations being foisted on women. A lot of days I drive by a big billboard in town that has the words "Think Big" on it, advertising plastic surgery upon women you know where. As it depicts a model, although covers her upper torso, we're invited to think what "big" means, and can hardly avoid doing so.
And at the same time, we wonder why suddenly a small percentage of young women are opting for horrific self mutilation. Probably just taking refuge from bizarre societal expectations may explain part of it.
